Contact Lens Care

Once you have selected the contact lenses which suit you best, the Optician at Rawlings will want to see you at regular intervals to monitor the prescription and fit of the lenses and the health of your eyes. This will usually be at six or twelve monthly intervals.

A contact lens aftercare appointment is different from a routine eye examination. The optician will use a microscope to examine the tissues at the front of the eye to ensure that the contact lenses are not disturbing their delicate balance.

Regular aftercare is an important part of good contact lens maintenance, not just to ensure the best possible vision through your contact lenses but also to check the fitting of the lenses and the health of your eyes for continuing contact lens wear. Regular check ups are also now required by law in order to purchase continuing supplies of lenses.

It is also an opportunity to discuss any questions or concerns with your lenses and lens care, and allow us to advise you of any advances in contact lens technology which could benefit you such as improvements in comfort or the length of time that you are able to wear your lenses for.

If you are a member of the Rawlings Vision Plan, all your appointments are covered in your membership fee including any time spent re-fitting you with new or different lens types.
