Enhanced or Standard Eye Test

Enhanced or Standard Eye Examination – What’s the Difference?

At Rawlings Opticians, we offer both Standard and Enhanced eye examinations so you can choose the level of care that best suits your needs.

Standard Eye Examination

Our standard test covers all the essential checks to assess your vision and eye health. It includes a full eye examination by one of our qualified optometrists, a discussion about your vision and lifestyle needs, and your up-to-date prescription. This is the test you’ll receive if you qualify for an NHS-funded sight test.

Enhanced Eye Examination

Our enhanced eye exam offers a more detailed view of your eye health using advanced technology such as retinal imaging or OCT scanning. These scans allow us to see below the surface of the retina and can help detect early signs of conditions like glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic eye disease—often before you notice any changes in your vision. It’s an excellent choice for anyone who wants the most thorough assessment or has a family history of eye conditions.

Both appointments are carried out by our experienced optometrists, but the enhanced test gives you that extra reassurance through more detailed imaging and monitoring of your long-term eye health.
