Quality of the ophthalmic care is unsurpassed. Rachael and Kim are absolutely wonderful opticians and such lovely people. A pleasure to see them. I won’t go anywhere else. In fact I have remained on the ‘monthly Eye care scheme’ despite now living over 100 miles away from the Chandler’s Ford branch. Reception staff are always very helpful and friendly and extremely accommodating when booking appointments. It would be 5 stars but there was a very limited choice of budget frames (Under £100) available as a short term replacement pair and for second time I am disappointed with quality of new glasses (lenses) but appreciate this is not the Optician’s fault. I’m sure Rawlings will be able to rectify for me.

The Winchester branch of Rawlings Opticians was highly recommended to me by a local Ophthalmic Consultant (Mr. David Anderson) & having visited on a few occasions now, I can see why. The level of service I have received here, has been exceptional! Everyone has been so friendly, helpful & professional. All the staff I have come into contact with are worthy of a mention, but there are three people who are particularly worthy of praise. I would very much like to thank Jenny for her fab telephone manner & for fielding all my questions in an unhurried manner, Mani for a very thorough eye examination & Debbie, who on my most recent visit, helped me to choose my new glasses & advised me on which lenses would be best for me. It took me a considerable amount of time to choose a pair of glasses (Debbie has the patience of a saint!) but on a day where the temperature outside exceeded 30 degrees, I was enjoying the benefits of the air con! I was worried about my right eye, and mentioned the problems to a gentleman in your Winchester branch when booking an eye test. I asked if I could be seen by Mr S Cabell, but he was fully booked in Winchester. However, after a call to Hedge End, it was arranged for me to see him in there two hours later. After tests and eye drops, he advised me that I had a Macular haemorrhage, and I was referred to the Southampton Hospital Eye Dept. I attended Saturday morning when further tests were carried out and Macular Degeneration was confirmed and I await an appointment with a consultant soon as it was classed as urgent. I was most immersed with the attention given by Mr Cabell, as he stayed long after closing time to email my details to the hospital, telephoned me at home confirming the message had been received. While my son and I were waiting a cup of tea was provided, which was really kind. I am concerned about the outcome, but grateful for the prompt action taken by Mr Cabell. I shall keep you informed of progress. Thank you again.

Easy to book back to back contact lens and sight test appointments. On the day, the sight test optician I had really wanted was swapped for a different one, but it didn’t really matter, both contact lens and sight test opticians were friendly but not over-friendly, answered all my questions, and I very much felt they had my best interests at heart. When choosing glasses, I normally hate the experience, because I have all sorts of limitations (small nose, allergic to silicon, massive prescription) and find it hard to find any glasses that fit all requirements, but on this appointment, the dispensing optician brought me about five pairs, and I loved one of them, which I am excited about picking up for the first time in my life! I have already brought the rest of the family to Rawlings, and recommended to my friends, and will continue to do so.

The clarity of vision, lack of any distortion when using them is incredible. It’s like not wearing glasses. As well as choosing from some fantastic new frames that had just come in to my local Chandlers Ford store I was able to choose very thin plastic lenses which coped so well with my complex prescription. For 15 years I have attended the same optician. In October 2017 I had to take my glasses back twice as I was not happy with the prescription. I stopped smoking in the spring! So to give myself a real incentive to stay smoke-free I decided to treat myself to prescription sunglasses. I had always wanted a pair and now was the chance to fund them from my saving on cigarettes. Rawlings Caterham recommended a superb Oakley frame and because of my Vision Plan I also saved £200 on the overall cost! And what a great time to do this. With the incredible weather, I doubt whether there have been more than 3 or 4 days that I haven't worn them! Although I had been wearing Transitions lenses, these fully polarized sunglasses are far superior. No more glare - which has helped my dry eyes. And no more residual dark shadows after a long day's sailing in brilliant sunlight. Thank you Rawlings (and I'm still not smoking!)

I recently converted from bifocals to varifocals and was assessed on dropping in without an appointment; I was told the glasses would be ready in 14 days, but were there after 7 days; I then wore them indoors for a few days as advised and found I had slightly blurred vision when reading which was fixed by the assistant manager; I can read these comments clearly as I type. I chose some frames but asked if they came in another colour. The store didn't have the alternative colour so they ordered them in as a matter of urgency. I was notified when they were in store and on confirming I preferred the colour, the order was placed again as a matter of urgency as the arm of my frames had broken. The whole experience was completed within two weeks. Nothing was too much trouble.

Your reception team are always smart and quick to help, also quick to answer the phone. Try to accommodate days and times for our appointments. The optician this time was from a different area, took the time to explain also what she e was doing, kind and helpful. The lady who helped me choose my frames was very lovely even popping lenses out of sunglasses to see the look on me, and after about ten pairs between us and on her advice. On my face I went for the sunglasses frame, for my lenses, . we also discussed having a film for the lenses for when outside as I need a good shade for my eyes. A brilliant service. Thank you these even look like my new glasses can't wait to wear them and be able to have clear vision again
