How Rawlings Opticians & Hearing Care Support Charities Making a Real Difference in Peoples Lives.

As a local and truly independent optical and audiology service provider, we’re proud to support local, national, and international charities.

Charities Rawlings Opticians and Hearing Care have donated and raised money for

We have been so privileged to work with some fantastic charities doing incredible work including:

See Ability
Vision Care for Homeless People
Aid for Ukraine
Cancer Research UK
CHECT (Childhood Eye Cancer Trust)
World Sight Day
Optometry Giving Sight
Gift of Sight
Moorfields Eye Charity

We’ve also worked with optical partners delivering glasses for children in Guatemala.

All our branches are collection points collecting glasses on behalf of the Lions Club. The glasses are examined, sorted and shipped to eye clinics around the world.

Please bring in your unwanted old spectacles when you next visit us.

The Children’s Hospital Pyjama Appeal – Spreading Love through Comfort

A charity collecting new pyjamas donations, which are donated to hospitals, hospices and women’s refuges. We were a collection point over the winter receiving over 100 pairs of pyjamas from our generous patients (&staff!)

To make a difference in these young people’s lives, make a donation, find out more at childrenshospitalpyjamas.co.uk.

Southampton Sight – Supporting People Living with Sight Loss

A Southampton charity providing volunteers visiting and offering emotional support to blind or partially sighted people in their homes.

CHECT, (The Childhood Eye Cancer Trust) – Supporting families affected by Retinoblastoma

Richard Rawling, our Managing Director, completed a skydive raising money for CHECT the Childhood Eye Cancer Trust.

The day of the jump was a beautiful blue sky and the photographs were amazing.

An incredible £2,933.76 was raised, which Richard presented to Priyanka Kotecha, the Fundraising Manager of The Childhood Eye Cancer Trust.

Congratulations to Richard for completing the jump, and to CHECT for the fantastic work they do.

The work of CHECT (The Childhood Eye Cancer Trust), is close to our hearts, after the nephew of one of our Optometrists was diagnosed with a tumour in his eye during a routine eye test. Thanks to early detection and successful treatment, he survived, and his eye was saved, but it was a stark reminder of how important charity work like CHECT’s is. This experience sparked our commitment to supporting the charity.

What is Retinoblastoma?

  • The most common eye cancer affecting babies, toddlers and young children.
  • In the UK, there is a 99% survival rate, but often the eye needs to be removed to save the child’s life.
  • In parts of the world with less access to medical care, less than 60% of children survive.
  • Sadly, sometimes both eyes are affected, meaning a lifetime of ongoing support.

Join us in supporting CHECT and help spread awareness about Retinoblastoma. Learn more and donate by visiting CHECT.org.uk.
