November – Careers month part three: Sara

Sara Shipway is another inspirational woman within Rawlings, who has built her career over a 20 year journey with us! 🥰
"After completing sixth form, I applied for various jobs without a clear direction in mind. I soon started a receptionist position at Rawlings Opticians in Winchester. Over time, my interest in Optics as a career grew. This led me to qualify as a Dispensing Optician in 2008, through a three-year day-release Ophthalmic Dispensing Course in London, which was generously sponsored and supported by Rawlings. Over many years, I also assisted the board as a marketing co-ordinator. In 2015, an opportunity arose to manage the Hedge End branch, even supporting me through maternity leave.
In September 2021, I took on the position of managing a larger practice in Chandlers Ford, which is where I am currently based. This year, I stepped into the role of Director after being invited to join the board." - Sara Shipway.
This month and every month all our staff are important and a vital part of what makes us a family at Rawlings.
