Lymington – Rawlings Hearing Care (formerly Solent Hearing)
Branch Information
Our Lymington branch offers Hearing Care appointments for free hearing assessments, wax removal for adults and children aged 5 and over and ear plug/protection advice and fitting. We are proud to be an independent business so can supply hearing aids and accessories from a range of manufacturers – we are not tied to one brand which means we can truly give a bespoke service to ensure you get the optimal hearing ability tailored to your specific needs.
Previously operated by Peter Robertson as Solent Hearing until early 2024, Peter has retired to Gibraltar and was delighted to hand over the reins to Bill Mills, who has many years of experience and having worked in this area some years ago was delighted to have the opportunity to come back to the New Forest.
Our Lymington Hearing Care Centre is situated just a 3 minute walk from the High Street, in Emsworth Road opposite the car park just around the corner from the Barbe Museum and appointments can be arranged by phone.
Please note we currently offer Hearing Care but not Eye Care at Lymington. Please call us for further information or book an appointment online here.

Bill Mills MSHAAI am passionate about my job, and I believe in giving excellent service delivered with trust and integrity and clients regularly refer friends and family to me. When the position of Audiology Lead with Rawlings Opticians came up, I knew it was the perfect role as I wanted to work with a genuinely “independent” hearing device provider, not one which is either owned or allied to one particular brand.
I knew from experience that this would give me the opportunity to give a more professional service to tailor the hearing solution more specifically to the patients’ individual requirements. Offering wax removal and earplugs as well leads to an interesting and varied working day.
My life as a Hearing Aid Audiologist began in 2014 when I decided to have a career change as having had many years of international travel working in the textile industry, I wanted to be based in the UK for a better work/life balance. I enjoy working with people and to be able to genuinely improve someone’s quality of life puts a smile on my face (as well as my patients!) when they realise what a difference hearing well can make to them. Providing audiology services has seen me working in Devon for a hearing brand before moving to Hampshire to deliver hearing care for a national optical company. Previously based in Lymington, I have worked across multiple locations across Hampshire and Dorset.
I live in the small village of Catherington in Hampshire which I share with my partner and our 8 month old GoldenDoodle puppy, Ted. I am an ardent follower of Liverpool football club and in my spare time love tinkering with old cars.

Emma Perkis
Hearing Care Assistant
I have been working in Optics for 24 years and am a Dispensing Assistant in our Winchester branch. I was first involved in Audiology around 10 years ago when I worked for a multiple opticians where I enjoyed learning to carry out hearing aid repairs and other related tasks, so when Rawlings announced they were going to merge Hearing Care into the business I was thrilled! I had moved to working to Rawlings in 2022 as I knew an independent opticians would give me wider experience and more time to build a relationship with my patients and be part of a close-knit team, so the launch of hearing care here was the cherry on the cake for me.
During my HCA course, my passion for Audiology grew. One of my favourite things I learned was how to take impressions of the ear. I am excited to have my own clinics now and be an extra pair of helping hands for our growing Audiology team.
I have 2 sons, 1 dog, 3 cats – and 1 husband, all of whom keep me busy in my spare time.
