A New Chapter for Eye Care at Rawlings Lymington

Exciting changes continue at Rawlings Lymington as the practice expands its eye care services and welcomes Resident Optometrist Shin Yi Tan to the team.

Many local residents already know Rawlings Lymington as a trusted destination for hearing care. With the continued growth of the branch’s optical services, patients can now benefit from comprehensive eye examinations, contact lens consultations, OCT scans and expert eye health advice, all delivered with the personalised approach that defines independent practice.

At the centre of this excitingShin Yi Tan development is Resident Optometrist Shin Yi Tan. Originally from Malaysia, Shin’s journey into optometry began in Singapore before she moved to the UK to complete her optometry degree in Manchester. Since qualifying, she has built extensive experience across the South Coast, supervising newly qualified optometrists, delivering patient care and even undertaking a research placement in Singapore.

Despite enjoying the research environment, Shin quickly realised that working directly with patients was what she loved most about the profession. She enjoys helping people understand their eye health and believes that building strong relationships with patients is an important part of providing exceptional care.

Shin has particular interests in myopia management, contact lenses and glaucoma care. As a contact lens wearer herself, she understands the life-changing difference that modern vision correction can make. Her interest in glaucoma is also deeply personal, having seen family members affected by the condition and recognising the importance of early detection through regular eye examinations.

Supporting Shin is the branch’s experienced management and dispensing team, led by Josh Williams who, like all our managers is a qualified Dispensing Optician. He is passionate about helping patients understand the benefits of premium lenses, specialist eyewear and myopia management solutions for children.

Alongside eye care, hearing care remains a key part of the Lymington offering. Experienced Audiologist Bill Mills provides hearing assessments, hearing aid consultations and ongoing support, while Jen offers professional ear wax removal services for adults and children aged five and above.Patients can also browse a carefully curated collection of eyewear featuring brands such as Maui Jim, Moscot and Coco Song, selected for their quality, craftsmanship and distinctive style.

As eye care services continue to grow, Shin is looking forward to becoming part of the local community and helping patients of all ages enjoy the very best vision and eye health for years to come.
