We are so excited that the long-anticipated opening of our next branch is within touching distance. Stockbridge is a small town (the smallest in England, in fact!) that sits astride the River Test, at the foot of Stockbridge Down. Midway between Andover, Romsey, Winchester and Salisbury, we have been coveting premises here for some time. Finally, last year, we found a premises that would accommodate our needs. The conservation department are doing a sterling job keeping the heritage of the town intact but having to make the necessary adjustments for planning has resulted in inevitable delays to our opening!! You can find us at the east end of the High Street in the old Picture Framing shop (formerly the Cook Shop). There is parking available in the lay-bys just around the corner as well in the High Street – and it’s free!

The wide sweep of Stockbridge High Street reflects its former role as a through-route for drovers bringing their sheep and cattle from Wales – seek out the thatched Drovers House and you can actually still spot a sign in Welsh. The beauty of Stockbridge has also inspired many writers and there is a poetry trail of ten poems, set in stone, metal plaques and etched glass, for you to follow around the town centre as you discover its treasures.

In the pretty High Street there is an abundance of independent specialist shops, art galleries, craft and gift shops, a delicatessen and a traditional butchers. Come and spend the day, whether it’s retail therapy you are after or you’re looking for something a little more active. There are lovely walks along the river, and the trout fishing is world-famous. Have a coffee or a light lunch in one of the friendly cafes or pubs. You’ll be spoilt for choice for a special dinner – we can’t wait to try the Greyhound on the Test, the lovingly restored Grosvenor and the Clos de Marquis!

Stockbridge is also close to attractions such as the wonderful house and gardens at Mottisfont Abbey, Houghton Lodge Gardens, Longstock Water Gardens, Danebury Iron Age Hill Fort and The Museum of Army Flying at Middle Wallop so would make an ideal base for that weekend away.

Whether you visit for the weekend, are on a day trip or are a local, please do come in and say hello. We can’t wait to meet you!
