Oasys Max contact lenses– new technology for today’s digital world

The newest lens in our contact lens portfolio has been designed specifically with the screen user in mind – which these days means nearly all of us! Whether it a laptop, a tablet or a phone, we all spend increasing amounts of time looking at screens.

Johnson & Johnson, have introduced Oasys Max lenses which are designed to provide clear and comfortable vision for people who spend a lot of time in front of digital screens. These lenses are specifically optimized to reduce eye strain and fatigue caused by prolonged use of digital devices.

The primary reason Oasys Max lenses are good for digital screen users is that they incorporate a range of advanced technologies that work together to provide a clear and comfortable viewing experience. For example, HydraLuxe technology which integrates with the tear film to provide a smooth, moist surface throughout the day. This technology is not a coating but forms part of the lens structure and is infused throughout the lens material reducing dryness, which can cause eye strain and fatigue. Additionally, the lenses are designed to provide a wide field of view, which can be especially beneficial for people who use multiple screens or who need to switch between tasks frequently.

Another key feature of Oasys Max lenses is their ability to reduce the amount of blue light that reaches the eyes. Blue light is a type of high-energy visible (HEV) light that is emitted by many digital screens, and research has shown that prolonged exposure to blue light can disrupt sleep patterns and contribute to eye strain and fatigue. Oasys Max lenses are designed to selectively filter out some of the harmful blue light while still allowing beneficial blue light to pass through, which can help to reduce the negative effects of blue light exposure.

It's worth noting that another recent innovation is Oasys Transitions lenses which are also designed to reduce eye strain and fatigue from digital screens, but they have an added feature of transitioning to a darker tint when exposed to sunlight. If you don't need that feature, then the Oasys Max lenses might be a better option for you. However, it's always a good idea to consult with an eye care professional to determine which type of lens is best suited for your specific needs, so ask us at your next appointment or book in now for a consultation.
