Rawlings Croydon Celebrate an Extra Special Christmas!

Posted: 20/12/2022

Christmas is almost upon us and whilst all our branches will be celebrating, our Croydon branch deserve special recognition for their fantastic achievement at the Croydon Business Excellence Awards last month.

These awards celebrate inspirational businesses and entrepreneurs across Croydon. Featuring a record number of entries and more than 18,500 votes, the awards aim to examine Croydon’s businesses impact on the local community, and the event was hosted by Legacy Youth Zone , an organization that raises money to support future talent.

Not only did Rawlings Opticians Croydon branch win the Outstanding Team Award, they also scooped the biggest accolade of the night - Business of the Year. Luckily Reena Patel , branch manager and David Barker , lead optometrist at Croydon branch brought their team to the awards for a fabulous night out – not for a moment thinking they would achieve not one but two awards.

Sarah Moore-Williams, Dean of LSBU Business School, and the Business of the Year presenter said: “Through our lead sponsorship of these awards, we look to promote, and showcase the incredible innovation, creativity, and ingenuity of the local businesses in Croydon. Our connection to the local business community helps us build strong partnerships, which are both beneficial to the businesses we work with and our students who are looking to enter the business community upon graduation. “The overall winner this year goes to a company that have shown both an outstanding and long-standing commitment to the local area. The company showed resilience and flexibility to continue to deliver services to the local population through all the challenges we’ve faced over the past 12 months. On behalf of London South Bank University, I want to congratulate Rawlings Opticians, who we selected for this prestigious award.”

Reena would like to congratulate the whole team at Croydon for their hard work week after week particularly in recent times when the Covid backlog and staffing challenges have meant that they have had to perform above and beyond the call of duty: “I am very proud of my team and it is fantastic to be recognised in such a prestigious way.”

David Barker commented “We are a very busy practice offering not only glasses and contact lenses for all ages but eye healthcare too – we have shared care arrangements with local hospitals to ease their burden. This is integrated into our day to day clinics which is of great benefit to our patients as well as supporting the NHS. Rawlings Opticians in Croydon were our first branch opening in 1895 and I am delighted that after 127 years we continue to offer independent award winning eyecare to the community.”

Well done Croydon – keep up the good work!
